Has Anyone Here Regretted an Open-Concept Design?
When we renovated last year, we went with an open-concept kitchen and living room. At first, it felt super modern and airy, but now I’m realizing that every time I cook, the smell travels everywhere and the noise from the TV clashes with conversations in the kitchen. Has anyone else felt like maybe walls weren’t such a bad idea after all? I’m starting to miss having defined rooms.

We did the same a while back, and yeah, it’s a trade-off. I love the natural light and space, but the sound does bounce around a lot. One thing that helped was investing in better doors and adding larger windows that can actually open wide to clear the air faster. I got a lot of ideas while browsing buildmart windows & doors — even just seeing the different setups gave me options I hadn’t thought about. For us, airflow and lighting adjustments made a bigger difference than I expected.
